Santa Barbara International Film Festival - Kicked Off Yesterday



Join hundreds of filmmakers and thousands of film enthusiasts as Santa Barbara welcomes the best of new and unique cinema. Hundreds of films including World Premieres, U.S. Premieres and titles representing various countries are on tap for the silver edition of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.


This year's Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) marks the 27th year of the festival in town, and has a motto of “11 Amazing Days, 10 Starry Nights." It kicked off yesterday, Thursday January 26th at 8pm, and comes to an end Sunday February 5th. Opening and closing night festivities take place at Santa Barbara's historic Arlington Theater in downtown Santa Barbara. Established in 1985, the Santa Barbara Film Festival (SBIFF) is an 11-day festival that showcases a broad array of independent American and international films, along with documentary cinema. The International Film Festival is held within the beautiful setting of downtown Santa Barbara. The SBIFF is dedicated to the art of filmmaking, and strives to raise the consciousness of film as an art form. The SBIFF attracts more than 70,000 visitors each year, and endeavors to enrich the community both culturally and economically.

Positive Numbers for Santa Barbara's Real Estate Market

Santa Barbara South County's CORT (Computer Oriented Real Estate Technology) Report is showing some positive numbers. December of 2011 showed the highest number of closed sales we have seen in any month since May of 2007. 

May of 2007 reflected 180 closings, and December of 2011 showed 170 closings.
